A passion project is a project that I am willing to spend 7 hours on throughout the semester, creating a work of art that I am proud of and I will explore techniques from the certain aspect of art I am studying. At the moment, I am a part of both a Drawing Studio class and a Graphic Design Studio class. Luckily, I have to create two Passion Projects, one for each class, the only difference being how I do them and what I do them of. This post, surrounding my Graphic Design class, will go on about my first ideas for my Passion Project due at the end of this semester.

It is very early on, and we have just been introduced to the idea of a Passion Project. I do not have a great idea about what I am going to do for this class, but I can imagine some things I may want to pursue. The only criteria for it is that I must digitally edit my project in some way. I can include different art types like sculpture, drawing, painting, even stop motion video, but I must have edited some aspects of my project. That leaves me with a lot of freedom, but it does make it hard to decide what I truly want to do. I can change my mind later if I want.

I definitely want to create something colorful, so that way it would catch anyone's interest who passes by. I think that creating an image that moves a little bit, like a gif, perhaps, would be very interesting.

I think that using computers and technology is a challenge already, but gifs probably would probably be most difficult for me. I have not tried many types of graphic design, so I cannot definitively say would I would be challenged in doing or not, but gifs seem very complicated. I will have to see. And as I said, it is subject to change!

If I were to put in my personal time outside of school to develop a skill it would probably be my skill in using Adobe Illustrator. I came across many issues and complications when using this program, but I would really like to get to know how to use it without problems. It seems like a very useful program, but I had a hard time understanding the many controls. Hopefully I can work on using that program a lot to get better at digitally editing my designs and using it to my advantage without getting frustrated with it.

I would definitely like extra time working with Adobe Illustrator, as I said. I also think it is really cool to get to know Photoshop too in time. Hopefully it will work to my advantage. I do not know too much about this program, but I think this material will come in handy.

Hopefully I answered all of these questions:

-What direction would challenge you the most?

-If you were to put in personal time to develop a skill what would that skill be?

-What media, material, or tools would you like extra time working with this semester?
