For Ceramics, we learned a whole bunch of techniques to manipulate paper in order to create a popping door for African American Month. This was my door! I am very proud of it. I curled black cardstock for the hair for maybe two hours, bought the sticky flowers from Hobby Lobby, cut out posterboard for the skin, cut pretty paper for her shirt, and used colored pencils to do the lips and eye. I wrote the text in a black sharpie and a gold sharpie. It was fun to assemble but since I did the majority of the work at home, it was incredibly challenging to get it into the school! A lot of teachers told me they really loved it, and I was very proud to hear that. I had to assemble it during one class period and I just barely got it on the door in time. I was cutting the paper and a kid inside scared me by putting his face directly in the window! There were some challenges but I am really happy with the results.
