PAPER MACHE MASk

Here is my paper mache mask I made in class! It was such a fun process. First, we took a plastic mold of a face and put tin foil over it, then covered it in duct tape to solidify the shape. Next, we dipped strands of paper in starch and created several layers of paper on top of the mold. After drying, we had the creative freedom to cut out pieces of cardboard and hot glue it to our masks to create fun shapes and structures. The last step was to paint it all.
My mask is obviously inspired by nature: it includes the beach, the waves, and the grass. I cut out and painted pieces of cardboard for the flowers and leaves surrounding the mask. I painted the mask for several days after that. It took so many layers of paint!
All in all, I am more than impressed with the result. I never really liked to paint, but I am starting to believe I should get into it more. Overall, I would do this project again and again!
